Beloved pets leave pawprints on our hearts and deserve a beautiful farewell.
How you say goodbye is up to you; a meaningful ritual can help process the feelings of loss.
Some people will have an informal private farewell at home - such as burying a small pet in the garden. This is legal at the address the pet lived, but there are a few checks you need to make, regarding depth and proximity to water sources - I can advise on this.
Others will entrust their vet to cremate their pet, and then return their ashes to them to keep.
There's also the option to have your pet cremated at the small 'Treasured Memories' chapel at Grimsby Crematorium (details at the bottom of the page).
You may arrange just a cremation, or have a cremation with chapel booking beforehand. Then you may spend time privately reflecting in chapel, have family say a few words, or have me lead a funeral celebrant service just as you would for a human.
If you would rather not use the chapel, either to save on the service slot fee, or because you'd prefer something more personal or informal, you might like to have a funeral service at home or your pet's favourite spot, before the cremation (or burial).
As this is may be much shorter-notice than with a service for a person, (unless your pet is stored carefully at low temperature), do contact me as soon as possible to check I'm available.
If your pet is poorly, it's OK to plan ahead and get in touch; this may be less distressing too.
Alternatively, you might prefer a cremation without ceremony when your pet passes, then have an ashes interment or memorial service some time afterwards, when you're ready to remember the happier memories.
I'm honoured to be able to create services for pets - they are beloved family members too.
Whether you'd like a funeral in chapel, or a memorial at a time and place of your choosing, or just some advice, I'll be happy to help if I can.
Pet bereavement was part of my diploma, and I am a great animal lover myself , so I understand how dearly loved and missed our pets are.
If you'd like to lead a little service yourself, I can also assist you in writing and structuring it, or make suggestions for poems.
